PTFE Diaphragms
Through Chemplast Marc Etter (Pty) Ltd. we supply PTFE diaphragms, plain or rubber backed.
Benefits
- Superior chemical resistance
- Excellent creep and compression resistance
- Reduced cold flow and good high temperature flow resistance
- Reduced permeability
- High tensile and elongation properties
PTFE resists almost all chemicals, with exception of alkali metals. PTFE provides the chemical resistance required, while the rubber backed support supplies excellent creep and compression resistance.
Temperature Range: -20°C - 150°C
Limitations
PTFE is subjected to distortion, depending on the frequency of exposure to steam and the duration of exposure to higher temperatures.
PTFE permeability can limit the diaphragm life, as chemicals are able to permeate through the PTFE, attacking the rubber backing. Chemplast Marc Etter (Pty) Ltd. have however, developed a unique process to significantly reduce permeation of PTFE - giving much longer service life to your diaphragm!

Through Chemplast Marc Etter (Pty) Ltd. we offer a range of Keylon® PTFE wear strips, which act as guides for metallic pistons and rods in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. They are also commonly used in maintenance free applications, where the dry-running properties of PTFE are utilised. The thickness, width and length of the tape bearing can be made-up to suit your application.
Standard grades are:
Keylon® PF1240 Bronze Filled PTFE, Keylon® PF1325 Carbon Filled
PTFE and Keylon® PF3940 Green coloured Bronze Filled PTFE. Different
fillers or percentages are available on request.
